Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1 clove garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

4 whole wheat burger buns

Optional toppings: avocado slices, tomato, lettuce, and additional white cheddar for melting

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped onion, Dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 1/2 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly and prevent puffing.

Preheat the Pan: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the burger patties to the skillet.

Cook the Burgers: Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on one side until golden brown. Carefully flip them and cook for an additional 5 minutes on the other side. If you'd like, add a slice of white cheddar on top during the last minute of cooking and cover the skillet to let it melt.

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, slice the whole wheat buns and toast them lightly on a separate skillet or under the broiler until golden.

Assemble the Burgers: Place the cooked chicken patties on the toasted buns. Top with your favorite toppings like avocado slices, tomato, and lettuce.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve the burgers warm with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a delicious meal.
