Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, sliced (preferably yellow or white)

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and salt. Toss well to coat the meat, then let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.

Stir-Fry the Steak: Add the marinated steak to the skillet in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring to get a nice caramelization. Then stir-fry until just cooked through. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary. Add the sliced onions, red, and green bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked steak to the pan with the vegetables. Drizzle with the remaining soy sauce and sesame oil, tossing everything together to combine and heat through.

Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
