4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch thick rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Optional: chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) for garnish

Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

    Once the butter has melted, sprinkle in the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir constantly until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble slightly.

      Add the sliced bananas to the skillet in a single layer. Allow them to cook for about 1-2 minutes, until they start to caramelize, then gently flip to cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them; they should be soft yet hold their shape.

        Drizzle the vanilla extract over the caramelized bananas and give them a gentle toss to coat evenly.
