Ingredients

2 cups apple cider

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup buttermilk

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

Reduce Apple Cider: In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the apple cider to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the cider is reduced to approximately 1 cup. Allow it to cool.

Prepare the Donut Mixture: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until well combined. Stir in the cooled apple cider, melted butter, and buttermilk, mixing until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.

Mix Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to over mix.

Fill the Donut Pan: Grease a donut pan and fill each cavity about 2/3 full with the batter.

Bake the Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Coating: In a small bowl, mix together the remaining granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.

Coat the Donuts: While the donuts are still slightly warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.

Serve: Enjoy your freshly baked apple cider donuts with a cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk!
