The Caprese salad hails from the beautiful island of Capri in Italy, where it was first created as a simple, yet elegant dish that showcases the island's local ingredients. Traditionally, the salad consists of slices of fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and fragrant basil leaves, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. The vibrant colors—red, white, and green—represent the colors of the Italian flag, making this dish not only delicious but also visually appealing.
