Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the mashed bananas and softened butter until smooth.

Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the banana mixture, mixing until well combined.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!
