Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus more for cooking)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sugar

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Mix well and add the sliced beef, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Allow to marinate for at least 20 minutes.

While the beef is marinating, steam the broccoli florets until bright green and tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.

Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches) and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

In the same skillet, add another drizzle of vegetable oil if necessary, and add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Return the beef to the skillet along with the steamed broccoli. Toss everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for about 2-3 minutes.

Serve the beef and broccoli over warm jasmine rice, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Enjoy your savory Chinese Beef and Broccoli!
