Ingredients

1 package (1 lb) of taco-seasoned ground beef or turkey

1 can (15 oz) refried beans

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1 tablespoon taco seasoning

1 package (1.5 lbs) refrigerated pizza dough

1/2 cup salsa

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Cooking spray or extra flour for handling dough

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.

Prepare the Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the taco-seasoned ground beef (or turkey) until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in refried beans, taco seasoning, salsa, and half of the cheeses (cheddar and Monterey Jack). Mix until well combined and heated through. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pizza dough. Use a rolling pin to flatten it slightly for easier handling. Divide the dough into even rectangles (approximately 3x5 inches for each stick).

Fill the Taco Sticks: Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture onto one side of each rectangle, leaving space at the edges. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

Seal the Taco Sticks: Fold the other side of the dough over the filling. Press to seal the edges tightly, and use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

Prepare for Baking: In a small bowl, beat the egg to create an egg wash and brush it over the top of each taco stick to give them a golden color when baked.

Bake in the Oven: Place the filled taco sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Optional: garnish with chopped cilantro before serving. Enjoy your Cheesy Taco Sticks with extra salsa or your favorite dipping sauce!
