Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix until well combined. Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix. If using, fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips gently.

Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Slice: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve these delicious Banana Bread Brownies alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
