Ingredients

4 cups bread flour (plus extra for dusting)

1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

2 teaspoons sea salt

1 teaspoon sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin)

Cornmeal (for dusting the pizza peel)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour and sea salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.

Pour the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil into the well you created in the flour. Gradually mix the flour into the liquid until it begins to form a rough dough.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

Place the kneaded dough into a large, oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Once risen, punch down the dough to release air and divide it into 2-3 equal portions (depending on your preferred pizza size).

Shape each portion into a ball and cover with a towel. Let them rest for another 30 minutes while you prepare your toppings.

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (around 500°F or higher), and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out one dough ball into a round shape, about 12-14 inches in diameter. Transfer to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal.

Add your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings of choice.

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven, allow to cool for a minute, slice, serve, and enjoy!
